CONCEPT
- Industrial vernacular. Form and material specification to reflect the sites industrial heritage.
- Corten steel cladding and glazing. Traditional stonework detailing. Stonework quarried on site to retain the sites vernacular charm.
- Linear plan, primarily single storey with First Floor studio ‘lookout’.
- House located below existing cliff to increase privacy and offer integrated weather protection.
- Zero carbon. Thermally controlled design, integral photovoltaics, living roof, ground source and air source heat pumps, under-floor heating, enhanced thermal performance and airtightness.
- Orientation and topographically responsive design to take advantage of views and light.
DELIVERY
Archeologically generated design response. Timber-framed construction. Weathered rainscreen with West-facing glazing.
COMPLETION
Due to be constructed in 2021. Open but secure design, careful landscape integration with Ecological and construction engagement and Community benefits.
