CONCEPT
- To consider how an existing redundant agricultural barn can be transformed into a state-of-the-art and unique dwelling.
- The approach focused on the site’s merits and assessment of the significance of position, landscape, ecology, orientation and topography to inform the architecture.
- The objectives were to demonstrate a considered and specific pathway through the site’s history, context and patina of use and age that clearly established a sound and intelligent foundation for its continued use – but as a domestic dwelling.
- Orientation and topographically responsive design to take advantage of views and light.
