PROJECT

  • The client’s intention was to improve their homes energy and environmental performance as far as they were able, within the bounds of practical and economic viability.
The house was inherently inefficient from an energy perspective. Although some steps had been taken to improve the buildings performance, installation of loft insulation for example, the majority of changes had been aesthetic, rather than energy-strategic, in nature.
Although operable, the existing heating system was aged, and repair and maintenance costs were an ongoing issues. Energy efficiency was likely to be substantially lower than more modern heating systems.
The house is not Listed, but the building does sit within a local and important Conservation Area.
