SpaceCUBE – Controlled Environments.
We are delighted to announce the handover of our first two SpaceCUBE’s.
Over ten years ago now, when we put our minds to developing a totally new architectural approach to facilitating enhanced learning opportunities for children on the Autism Spectrum and those with other special needs, we wanted to utilise the burgeoning research into the effects of light and sound on the minds of effected pupils. From visits to (and designing) schools, we became all too aware of the strains on the system and the woeful lack of integrated intelligence when it comes to designing truly responsive environments. We were also mindful of the stress on both space and budgets and registered that building your way out of the problem, using traditional techniques was not an option for most.
We set out to design a child-centred space, complete with all the latest in immersive light and audio visual technologies, set within a quick-to-build unit, which could occupy a small left over space on the school grounds.
The two Space Cube’s featured on 3D Eco’s project page, have just been handed over to the Horizons Trust Academy school in Stockton-on-Tees. They rest in areas of under-utilised playground and open grassland and needed neither Planning Permission nor Building Control approvals.
I would be happy to tell you all about the build quality, the technologies and the pupil led plans for use. Please contact me if you would be interested to hear more or would like to enquire about a CUBE for your site.
There will be much more to come from SpaceCUBE.
